Cow-A-Palooza

Today I visited Walton Ranch, the only truly operating cattle ranch left in Jackson, Wyoming. Over the next couple of weeks, 400 calves will be born, and I will be there to see it all. Here is a newborn, literally seconds old, checking out his world while mom cleans him. Little April Fool.

when my job RULES

All was quiet at the office until the phone rang. Next thing I knew I was strapping snowshoes to my feet and hauling a NIKON body and a 300 + a doubler and a monopod up a hill through the woods. I got to see this beauty and her cubs creeping around through the snow. We were pretty far away, so it isn't the best quality, but its still freakin cool!

when my job matters

Brandon is fourteen years old and he is talking about his father's suicide in front of an audience -- as a self chosen topic for his speech and debate tournament. His mother weeps the first time she hears it. At another tournament, a student from the audience tells Brandon that after hearing his speech, he has decided not to kill himself.

Before I attended his speech, Brandon wanted to show me a photo of his father, Stephen.

My Other Job

Some days I just really love the relaxing, deadline-free time I spend with kids ... Isn't Lila just gorgeous? PS She chose that pose herself!

More Play, Less Work

Here's a photo I took this week. Nothing special. I've been catching up on my fun time... climbing and skiing... both of which I am getting better at and loving. Maybe I'll have something better next week... but I doubt it since I have to "hold down the fort" while the other photographers get to go photograph the Clintons and Obama at various rallies in Wyoming... I'm bitter about it, but ill be a free lady in November.
