still learning how to Live the Life

“The west isn’t a place that gives itself up easily. Newcomers have to sink into it slowly, to descend through its layers, and I’m still descending.” – Pam Houston

I’ve been living and working in Jackson for more than a year now and I think I'm finally done fighting against the backwards ways of this place– the inconsistencies, the unemployment, the blind walk on a seesaw. I’m giving in to living in the moment, in the simplest of ways, and I’m loving it.

I'm just noticing how lucky I am today. I wake up and I say to myself, “Should I try to work or ski today? Most of the time its skiing of some kind, and when I get done, I go on a long run with my great dog – who has more joy than a Christmas song. We just go along together, side by side on the icy streets, and he’ll put his head up to lick my fingertips, and we’ll keep going until the colors melt into night.

“I drank the moonlight. It filled me up.” – Pam Houston

Brighter Skies?

Somewhere ... under the rainbow ... is the little town of Jackson ... and Rachel, hoping for good news ... I still need a job ...

... and a new car ...

... but not a new dog ... I love him.

For Jessica

Hi Jessica! How's the humidity in D.C.? This post, I made especially for my girlfriend Jessica, who is on vacation from Jackson, and she missed the first snow. While she is probably somewhat jealous, I feel more like Taj looks in this photo ... damnit.

Seasons change quickly around here ... I'm just glad we had Fall for as long as we did!

Tastin the Tetons ...

Went to a nice little event on the Square where chefs were featuring fancy food from Valley restaurants ... and I brought my paparazzi lens... because I actually got a freelance job with the old NAG this weekend.
